About the trip
Navigation With Harriet
What a great place to start! Maybe you've seen a map at a glance, or have always wanted to have a bit more independence walking the dog.
Together we will begin to learn:
What a map is, including grid references and symbols
How to orientate the map
What the symbols mean
How to use features on a map as a guide
Be able to plan and execute travelling to a point or in a direction
How to recover from a navigational misjudgement or mistake
What equipment to take with you and how we can deal with common problems
We move at a pace suitable for all individuals in the group and concentrate on learning skills. Come with as many questions about navigation, gear, boots, the weather and everything in between! We’ll walk 5km to 8km and a maximum of 200m in height gain, it will be paced to maximise on learning.
Small groups, with minimum of 2 and a maximum of 4 people on the course.
Based somewhere in the Lake District, to be confirmed nearer the time.
