A two day beginner's winter skills experience. Learn how to stay safe on snow and ice with ice-axe, crampons and winter boots, how to navigate in winter, and avalanche safety. Non-residential. Based in Aviemore.

About the trip

This course will give you the skills and confidence to tackle the UK's mountains in winter conditions. You'll know what to take, how to plan a safe route and how to execute your plan, as well as how to look after yourself if an accident happens.
We start each day in a cafe with a short briefing, then head out in to the mountains.

Itinerary

DAY 1
9.30am. Meet up in cafe in Aviemore
10.30 am. Begin our day on the hill.
5.00pm. Return to Aviemore.

Instructed course, with a ratio of 1:4 maximum.

Not included

You'll need to have B1 winter boots as a minimum plus ice axe and crampons. These can all be hired, information on booking. Kit list will be provided on booking but all other equipment is standard.
This is a non residential course. A list of accommodation options for all budgets will be provided on booking.
