Learn the skills necessary for the safe transition from summer to winter walking in the Scottish Highlands. Put the skills into practice as you undertake a guided winter walk in the stunning Scottish Highlands.

About the trip

PLEASE NOTE - in order to maximise flexibility the venue for this course will be confirmed nearer the date.

Day 1
After meeting up to discuss the plans and key objectives for the day we'll head off to learn and practice some key skills such as:

1) movement skills in winter time
2) fitting and use of crampons on snow and ice
3) carrying and use of ice axe on snow and ice
4) ice axe arrest - demonstration & practice
5) avalanche awareness and route planning considerations

Day 2
Will provide further opportunity to practice the skills learnt on the previous day as well as touching on additional areas such as navigation and staying safe in the mountains in winter.
