About the trip
This course would suit climbers looking to build knowledge towards becoming a competent second, or wanting to learn and utilise top roping in their climbing.
We will build a greater understanding of rock climbing and look into modern climbing gear and all the relevant skills to follow a leader and second routes.
Day 1:
Recap tying in and belaying
Discuss modern gear such as nuts, cams and hexes
Demonstrate and practice its placement in the rock
Look at building belays
Set a framework for safe and solid belays
Use this framework to build top ropes for climbing at single pitch venues
Day 2:
Complete a rock climb
Climb routes 'in series'
Learn to belay a leader
Learn to remove gear
Learn climbing calls
Learn hitches and knots such as cloves hitches for tying in to belays
Discuss descent and abseiling
This course works best when booked for 2 people
